3 Things That You Should Not Do After Getting Breast Implants

Having breast implants can help you improve your self-confidence. It's a very common surgery, so if you work with the right cosmetic surgeon, you really shouldn't have too much to worry about. However, it is important to take care of yourself when you are recovering. These are a few things that you should not do right after getting breast implants if you want to recover as well as possible from your surgery.

1. Get Too Active

Even though you might want to return to your regular exercise routine as soon as possible, it is important to talk to your doctor about doing so. Running, jumping, and otherwise being too physically active is generally not a good idea until your wounds have healed, since it can cause your incisions to open back up, can prevent them from healing properly, and can cause your implants to move. Your doctor should be able to provide you with more information about how long you should wait before continuing regular physical activity.

2. Wear a Regular Bra

Now that you have your implants, you might be ready to go out and buy nice new bras in your new size. However, it's important to wait before doing this. Your surgeon might ask you to wear a certain type of bra during the healing process, or it may be suggested that you wear tank tops underneath your shirts for support. You may be advised not to wear any bras with underwire for a couple of weeks after your surgery. If you need help with finding a bra that you can safely and comfortably wear after your surgery, your surgeon should be able to help.

3. Skip Your Follow-Up Visits

Your surgeon will probably schedule an appointment for you to come in and have your surgical sites carefully checked. At this appointment, your surgeon will help ensure that you are healing properly and may talk to you about which activities you can resume doing and when. It's important not to skip these followup visits, even if you think that everything seems to be healing properly.

Having a breast augmentation surgery done can help you achieve the look that you have always wanted, but you probably don't want to worry about not healing properly. Luckily, if you avoid these things and follow any suggestions from your surgeon, you should not have to worry about too much during the recovery from your surgery.
